Big Tree

This illustration was paired with the Big Moon illustration in the book. Both were used to convey a large passage of time in the book.

One of the most challenging aspects of this book was painting Wisconsin farmland, having never been there, and having to make sure all the flora, fauna, and geology were appropriate! Not an easy task.

These trees are actually in Pleasanton, CA, along Bernal Ave by the Alameda County Fairgrounds.
