Watercolor Books

For years, when my students would ask me for books on watercolor, I would simply steer them to the books in the Painting section. The fact is, 98% of what you need to know about watercolor, is simply the same information you need to know about painting in general, and I'd never found a book on watercolor that I considered to be a good book on Painting itself.

It was a wonderful surprise then last year when I stumbled on the book below. I hope someday to add some more, but until then, besides the book below, pick up some of the books in the painting section and apply their exercises and information to your watercolors.

Robert Wade's Watercolor Workshop Handbook

Robert Wade

The only book on watercolor I recommend. Good explanation of painting in watercolor with values, and good tips for a beginner about using a digital camera to help one learn to see values.
