This was originally intended for the
"Fern leaf" location; the fern was going to be on the first text page as a kind
of reverse "dingbat" (for those of you who know what that term means.)
Allyn (my editor) thought it looked too creepy as a solitary disembodied eye, (that was what I intended! ) and I didn't like the idea of a pair of eyes so it ended up getting dropped altogether. Not a big deal really, but I thought some people might enjoy seeing it.
