I'm really happy with how the spot
illustrations turned out for the book. I've always loved books with little
"extra" illustrations scattered through the text.
When I first thought of doing the " M " spots like this, a shiny one, then a dulled one when the love affair sours, I wasn't totally sure I could pull it off the way I thought of it in my head. This was one of those rare cases where it actually looks pretty close to what I initially envisioned.
