Drawing Books

I love drawing. And while I love painting, color, perspective, and lots of other things about making art, I think at the end of the day I'm happiest when I'm just pushing around a pen or pencil. Drawing is a huge subject though, so this list of books roams a bit---through figure drawing, animal drawing, tonal drawing and more. All of these books though are either classics, or they should be.

Oh, and a note for beginners: start with Betty Edwards and go from there to whatever catches your interest. Enjoy!

The Sketch Book for the Artist

Sarah Simblet

Ms. Simblet really knows her stuff. She has a lot of academic knowledge, but she balances that with a very open-minded approach to art and learning to draw. I really like this book!
